How do I qualify for a MHH scholarship?

Must be a survivor of cancer between the ages of 18 and 39 years old
Enrolled or planning to enroll at a university, community college, or trade school
Citizen of the United States of America (We award scholarships in states from all across the country)

When does the MHH scholarship application process begin and end?

The scholarship application period is 3 months from November 1 through January 31 the following year.

When will I find out if I've received a MHH scholarship?

We notify all candidates and recipients at the beginning of June. Recipient awards for the Fall semester are issued in July, recipient awards for the Spring semester are issued in December.

How are scholarship recipients chosen and determined?

From March 1 through April 30 we have a selection committee from across the country who reviews and scores applications. These reviewers have a vested interest in our mission, come from a variety of professional backgrounds and each of them makes determinations on various criteria based on how they interpret the stories and quality of each application.

We then take all of the reviewer data and average everything out through a scoring system based on how each reviewer scored each respective application. Recipients are selected based on their overall scores. The higher the score, the more likely they are to be awarded a scholarship.

Remember, applying for a scholarship is much like applying for a job. The quality of your application and answers influences our selection committee.

How much does each recipient get awarded?

Scholarship amounts range from $1,000 to $10,000 each. Scholarship awards over $2500 will be funded over the course of 3 to 4 years.

Where do scholarship checks get issued?

We write all scholarship checks to the financial aid office of each recipient’s respective school under their student ID number.

Can I apply for the MHH scholarship multiple years in a row?

Absolutely. Often when candidates aren't selected, they apply again, which increases their chances the following year. There is a lot to be said about getting back up and trying again, and we take note of that.
